About The Field Facilities Centre
The University of Canterbury has the most extensive network of field stations of any New Zealand university, ensuring that field-work opportunities for UC staff and students are maximized.
The Field Facilities Centre offers a wide range of services relating to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching courses, research and other activities at the UC Field Stations.
Field Sciences are a distinctive feature of the degrees and subjects offered at UC. The field sciences are supported through a range of field facilities that fall into two distinct categories "laboratories in the field" and "field laboratories".
The Field Facilities Centre comprises the "field laboratories" at Cass, Harihari, Kaikoura and Westport. They support field studies carried out in the locations and environments around the field stations.
The Department of Physics and Astronomy operates "laboratories in the field" at Lake Tekapo, Birdlings Flat, Scott Base (Antarctica) and are not included in the activities of the Field Facilities Centre.
The Field Facilities Centre is based at Engineering Services, University of Canterbury.
All enquiries, administration and bookings are processed by the Field Services Manager.
