Teaching (Edward Percival) building

The Edward Percival building is situated virtually on the shore, along the Esplanade in Kaikoura, with panoramic views of sea and mountains, the field station has residential facilities for staff and students and laboratory facilities for maintaining live animals for study. Many second and third year geology, geography and biology students attend intensive field courses at Kaikoura to learn field techniques.

As a teaching facility the building serves its function well, catering for many departments of the University of Canterbury, both as a base for field related studies and also as a venue for seminars and discussion groups.
